The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Wayne State University invites applications for a full time faculty appointment in theoretical/computational condensed matter physics at the tenure-track assistant professor rank with an anticipated start date of August 15, 2017. More senior appointments may be considered for exceptional applicants. We are seeking an individual with an outstanding record of research and excellent promise who will develop an internationally recognized research program that complements existing research areas in condensed matter physics within the department and a strong commitment to teaching. The successful candidate is expected to become an effective teacher at both undergraduate and graduate levels, and to establish a highly competitive externally funded research program in theoretical/computational condensed matter physics and materials science. Candidates must have a Ph.D. degree in physics or a related field. Review of applications will begin on January 15, 2017, but applications will continue to be considered until the position is filled.
