To attend the conference, you must first apply through the central APS CUWiP application siteRegistration for the conference can only happen after you have received a notice from the APS that you have been accepted. Please apply only to the conference closest to your geographic location on January 13th, 2017. The application period is September 1 to Oct 14, 2016, and you will be informed of your acceptance by the end of November 2016.

When you send in your application, it will be evaluated by the local organizing committee of the conference to which you applied (i.e. the conference that is closest to your anticipated location, January 13, 2017). At Wayne State University we expect to be able to accept most or all of our applicants, but in case we have to limit acceptance, preference will be given to students who have not previously attended a CUWiP.

Once you are accepted, you will be asked to register, also through a central APS site. Upon registration, you will be asked to pay a $45 registration fee. Lodging, food, and tours will be provided to all student attendants by the conference. In case the conference is over-subscribed, hotel accommodation preference will be given to non-local students. We encourage you to ask your department to help you with travel expenses. However, for those unable to secure travel funds we will be offering travel stipends. As we get closer to the conference we will help organize car-pooling groups to keep travel costs low.

When you register, you will be asked if you are interested in presenting a research poster and/or giving a short oral research presentation. Presenting a poster or talk is not a requirement for attending the conference, but we highly encourage all students who have been involved in research to take this opportunity to present their work.
