The Department of Physics & Astronomy is greatly invested in scientific research. Our faculty conduct cutting edge research in key areas of modern science including:

Applied Physics and Optics
Atomic Physics
Biomedical Physics
Condensed Matter and Materials Physics
Nuclear Physics
High Energy Particle Physics
Energy Materials Research

To learn more about these research areas visit our Research Page.

We believe comprehensive training in Physics cannot be achieved without exposure to research, thus we strive to actively involve our undergraduate students in research. Dedicated undergraduates are encouraged to participate in cutting edge research with a faculty mentor through our Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program.

Visit the REU page for details.
